What is an effective web design all about? Think of it like this, if you are surfing the internet and are looking for some restaurant website, you find a lot of them located in your area, which one you will prefer? By having a look at their website, you sure will go for the one that is perfectly designed and looks attractive, it has all colorful graphics and logos and a good content. People all over the world look for beauty, first impression is the last impression, if your websites looks perfect and fits to the needs and expectations of the visitor he pr she will think good of your business.

Use of graphics and content
Website effectiveness is all about having a good graphic content. There are a lot of graphical content options like flash, designs, flash menus, buttons, 3D images, videos and much more but you shall be very careful in selecting which type of graphic content will best suite your website. If the website is only built with flash media and there is no such information about what you offer then the visitors will not come again to your site. The flash content takes too much time in loading on the browser. But this does not mean that you do not use graphics at all. You can use flash and other 3D images but with preciseness. The balance between the textual content and the graphical content must be well balanced. Both these content types must be mixed with precision so that the user is not annoyed by your website.

Layout and design
The layout of the website must be simple and in accordance with the products and services that you are offering online. If the layout of your website is dull and dry then no user will want to visit more than once. Make sure everything is balanced.

Here are some of the mistakes that I have listed, do not make these mistakes and I am sure your website will look great.

1. Text is too small to read
2. The text is hard to read because of the poor combination of the background and the text color.
3. Large graphic files take too much time in loading
4. A lot of blinking content is irritating
5. Unclear navigation
6. Graphical content that does not fit the screen
7. Non stop animations
8. Unnecessary scroll bars
9. Unorganized alignment of elements.
